DRESS CODE
At Bird Rock Elementary School, we strive to help students grow as learners and as citizens. The BRE Dress Code encourages students to focus on learning. This dress code applies equally to all students. Attire should protect the health and safety of all students.
Dress Code:
Student attire should not advertise or advocate the use of alcohol, drugs, tobacco, weapons, or gang affiliation. This also applies to garments with writing or pictures that are obscene, suggestive, sexual, mean-spirited, or violent.
Shirts must be long enough to touch pants or shorts/skirt.
Clothing must cover undergarments and buttocks.
Wearing hoods and hats that cover the ears or face area are not permitted on campus.
The following are not allowed at school:
Pants or shorts worn below the hips.
Half-shirts, crop tops, and sleeveless tops with large armholes are not to be worn.
Spaghetti straps
Flip Flops, slides, slippers of any kind.
When a student's attire does not meet the dress code, he/she/they will be asked to remedy the issue in one of the following ways:
Change into clothes provided by the office.
Call home from the office to request a change of clothes.
PARKING
5th Grade Safety Patrol
BRE Student Safety Patrol monitors and directs pedestrian and vehicle traffic at the front of the school's sidewalk on La Jolla Hermosa Blvd. You will recognize these outstanding 5th grade citizens by their red Safety Patrol shirts and Safety Patrol caps.
Please abide by all signage, cross at crosswalks, and do not make U-turns in the middle of the school loading zones.
Intersection at Waverly / Colima
These cross streets do not have a 4-way stop. It's a high traffic area for cars and our pedestrians entering / exiting BRE via Gate 8. Please take care when you are driving and parking, and avoid drop off in crosswalks or in red curb zones.
